Art and Action: RCMP and CRPS Unite for Positive Change Through Youth-Designed Tickets  

With the support of Canadian Rockies Public Schools (CRPS), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has launched an engaging contest that calls upon Gr. 6 to 12 students to channel their creativity into designing a 4 x 6-inch "Positive Ticket." This initiative is not just an artistic endeavor but a community strengthening tool, where students are challenged to illustrate the themes of personal safety, community heroism, positive attitudes, and smart choices.

Students are invited to express their visions through various artistic mediums, including digital art, photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media. The initiative provides a platform for students to display their skills in a meaningful way that directly impacts how their peers interact with law enforcement.

The winning design will be used by RCMP officers to recognize and commend the exemplary behaviour among youth and adults in the Bow Valley. More than just a ticket, this design will embody the culture of respect and appreciation that CRPS instills in its students. It symbolizes the division's commitment to nurturing well-rounded citizens who actively contribute to a safer, more positive community.

In addition to the artistic recognition, the contest winner will receive a $100 gift card, an RCMP gift prize pack, and the unique opportunity to serve as Police Chief for a Day.

The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2024, setting the stage for a celebration of creativity and civic engagement. This initiative is a vivid illustration of how CRPS and the RCMP collaborate to foster an environment where student learning and community involvement are deeply intertwined.
